Scientific name: Clupeobarbus bifrenatus (often still found in literature under Barbus or Enteromius)
Common names: African Banded Barb, Two-banded Barb, Banded Barb
Family: Cyprinidae (true barbs and minnows)
Origin: Central and West Africa — common in rivers, streams, and floodplains, including parts of the Congo River Basin.
Size: Usually 6–8 cm in aquariums, but can reach 10–12 cm in the wild.
Tank size: 90 cm (3 ft) minimum for a small group.

Diet: Omnivore — takes high-quality flakes/pellets, frozen foods, and live foods. Will graze on algae and biofilm.
Temperament: Peaceful schooling fish; keep in groups of 6+ to reduce stress.
Tankmates: Other peaceful African tetras, barbs, small cichlids, Corydoras-like catfish, or Synodontis species.
