Behavior: Peaceful, active, and schooling. Thrives in groups of 6–12 to promote schooling behavior and reduce stress. Males display vibrant colors and patterns, often engaging in courtship displays, while females are livebearers, giving birth to free-swimming fry.
Temperature: 64–84°F (18–29°C); optimal range 74–80°F (24–27°C).
pH: 7.0–8.5 (neutral to slightly alkaline).
Compatible with peaceful nano fish like Neon Tetras, Harlequin Rasboras, Dwarf Corydoras, or White Cloud Mountain Minnows. Safe with larger shrimp (e.g., Amano Shrimp) in planted tanks, though shrimplets may be eaten. Avoid aggressive or large fish and guppies (Poecilia reticulata) to prevent hybridization and maintain pure strains.
