Mekongga Stream Goby

Size: 1.5–1.8 inches (3.9–4.6 cm); females slightly larger
Lifespan: 3–5 years with proper care
Behavior: Peaceful, active, and semi-social. Thrives in small groups of 3–5 with one male and multiple females to reduce male territorial disputes. Males display vibrant red heads and orange dorsal fins during breeding, while females are duller with translucent bodies.
Temperature: 72–78°F (22–26°C); avoid prolonged exposure above 80°F.
pH: 7.0–8.0 (neutral to slightly alkaline).
Water Flow: Strong current (10–15 times tank volume per hour), mimicking fast-flowing streams
Oxygenation: High, requiring well-oxygenated water with powerheads or airstones
Diet: Carnivorous, feeding on micro-invertebrates and biofilm in the wild. Offer small, high-protein foods like frozen or live brine shrimp, daphnia, or bloodworms. Supplement with sinking carnivore pellets or Repashy gel foods. Encourage biofilm growth on rocks for grazing.
